AHA Heart Walk 2012

Saturday, September 15, 2012. "Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of all Americans? In fact, someone dies from CVD every 38 seconds! Heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. And congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects." (source:AHA)
Once again, our team is joining the American Heart Association's Heart Walk to promote physical activity to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The UCSD Cardiology "Kirk Knowlton" team participated in the American Heart Association 2012 San Diego heart walk and raised a grand total of $3,425.00 $3,550.00. A big thanks to all team-members and supporters from the Cardiology Division! Our top fundraisers and contributors were Angela Peter, Buzz and Xiuru Richards, Rebecca & Eugene, Andrea Domenighetti, Farah Sheikh and Wes Jones, the Cowling Family, S.S.M.R.I.A., Bob Ross, Ju Chen, Nancy Dalton and Kirk Knowlton, as well as many others. Congratulations for surpassing the fundraising goal!
